A ram produced by KRM Suffolks (Andy & Katherine
Meadows, VR). Here are their comments on this ram: “This is a super
complete, heavy muscled, long bodied son of ‘Hokie’ (Kimm 39 x Henry
810) that we’d been hoping to produce.” 5211 was purchased by VR Tech
from the Meadow’s first production sale. Dr. Scott Greiner, who is in
charge of the VT sheep program, summarized this ram to me as: A very
genetically predictable sire the college has used for two seasons,
siring lambs with growth (he leads the college flock for NSIP stats),
super scan data (his REA was 3.36 adj to 135#), plus the lambs by him all have a great
look. Check out his ext. pedigree, it is filled with Kimm bloodlines.
Platinum was leased for Dec and Jan lambs and back in VR, breeding ewes
by the second week of Sept. I am excited about this ram’s offspring,
which should be able to serve different facets of the breed.

This was the leading ram lamb for both growth and REA
size (3.44, adj to 135#) from the 2006 crop. His twin was equally
impressive and was the high seller in the ‘06’ sale, going to MT.
Kimm 6022 was leased to Steve Ulrich, IL for the ‘06’ breeding season.
He returned home late thus there were only a few lambs by him here last
year but I am growing out a very interesting young son from him who was
dammed by a Mc 38 daughter. No doubt, he is the sire being used in the
‘07’ Kimm breeding battery which should cater to the range and
commercial ram buyers. He is equally as big as his sire, Kimm 2022 and
has a shot of frame genetics in his pedigree, on the dam side. A fact
which I hope will be a positive, stirring the pot just a bit, adding
size to his progeny.

‘STOUT’ is the best word to describe this guy. Like 6022 from the ‘06’ crop, this ram was also one of the leading ‘07’ rams who combined growth with super REA size (3.96, adj to 135 #) and his brother was not far behind. His twin was one of the strong selling rams in the ‘07’ sale, going to AL. I have been looking for that son of Mc 38 who could pick up where 38 left off, maintaining his many great traits plus adding even more. Could this be him? Time will tell and expectations are high on how he will measure up. He has his sire’s size, bone and muscle plus maybe even a little more breed character and strength of pasterns over his dad. The great thing is that he puts it altogether in an attractive, complete package. He weighed 270 in mid July, just prior to going into the breeding pastures and he was not fat. His dam is a Slack 8414 daughter (a ram I leased from Tom back in 2000). 7013 has similarities to his grandsire, 8414.

A Shell 355 son who combines style (super hip shape), length, and muscle along with respectable growth. He was the RR son I was hoping 355 would sire. Ason who would keep that ‘look’ in his offspring while maintaining strong maternal traits, this guy could be the ticket. 7011’s dam is a Mc 02-67 daughter, a bloodline which has produced consistent sets of attractive, salable progeny in the past. 7011 was bred to a genetically diverse group of young ewes this year. He was a very aggressive breeder (fantastic testicle size) and visitors to the farm this summer were most impressed with him as they were with his classmate, Kimm 7013.

This ram was leased for a second breeding season
from Ben Calkins, OH. He did a great job of producing a very stylish,
consistent consignment for the 2007 sale, which were well received. I
guess I have compromised my integrity by using a ram whose pedigree is
known to be bogus (his actual pedigree is now posted, check it out). I
am sorry if I disappointed anyone, I am not perfect but I am guilty of
wanting to breed good Suffolk sheep and this ram is truly a genetic
jewel. Prospective buyers of this ram’s progeny should be seeking lambs
with a competitive “look” which still maintain size, character, muscle
and most importantly have maternal traits, with decent growth. 15 EWES EXPOSED |

This four-year-old (NON-REGISTERED) ram was offered for lease to me by Clint while at Sedalia, late June. He is a unique ram, primarily Marx bred, who has great muscle starting with his rack and continuing onto his leg. A full-bodied creature, who still has balance and impeccably correct underpinning. Following his stay here, he moved on to TX where Miles Gibbs is also leasing him. He is a piece to the puzzle and time will tell how this totally out crossed ram will produce in the e Kimm program. It should be interesting to watch. Potential buyers of this ram’s offspring need to understand, there will be no registration papers but there will be percentage registration papers. Sad thing is that he is a truer Suffolk than many of the animals carrying USSA papers in the breed today! Is it time for the USSA to “Wake Up” and open the books??

I purchased half interest in this young ram in late August from Rick. The e Andresen’s have enjoyed great success in the show ring starting with many champions at the National Lamb Show and continuing on with numerous division honors at the Iowa State Fair 4-H Lamb Show and AK-SAR-BEN lamb show. I have always respected the type of Suffolks coming from this flock and am very pleased to be able to attain use of this very attractive, predominately Fields bred, ram. His strong suit is muscle from front to rear, all tied up into a very correct, stylish package. He was exposed to nearly all the 2007 replacements; the results should be fun to see.

I saw this ram on Bill’s web site and he really caught my attention. Come to find out he is sired by a Mc 38 son which Bill had purchased in the ‘05’ ’ Kimm sale and he is dammed by a Slack bred female who was named Grand Champion Wether Dam at the ‘05’ Mid West Stud Ram Sale. This ram has a huge rack and loin, is very true footed and is dead level though the hip. I leased him mid way through this year’s breeding season to be used for clean-up purposes at the Tipton flock (Bubba & his family have moved from Monticello). I also have the option to use him early in ‘08’.

This ram is a Mc 38 son out of a great “old” Slack 259 daughter. I kept him to grow out mainly because his full brother from’05’ went into the Chris Miller flock, MN and Chris told me he was doing a great job. I allowed Bubba a chance to use him on his flock located at Iowa City from which placed three ewe lambs in this year’s sale, as a guest consignor. Since 6124 was showing a little fiber when sheared out this spring, I chose to pass on him and offered him in the ‘07’ sale, where Bubba proceeded to buy him. I am glad he did, he has grown out to be a most impressive animal, stout, level, character and more bone than I have seen in a long while. So bottom line, this ram is also being used as one of the clean-up rams for the Tipton flock, compliments of Bubba.
